ABOUT ME

Welcome to my ePortfolio! My name is Meghan McNabb and I am a registered psychiatric nurse (RPN). I have worked in several fields within mental health nursing, specializing in acute psychiatric care. As a full-time staff at Vancouver General Hospital, I often take on the role of charge nurse for my unit. This is a leadership role where I am used as a resource for my peers. I help with prioritizing patient care, patient assignments, and staff scheduling. Charge nurse duties also play an integral role in coordinating hospital bed flow by facilitating transfers and admissions. Recently, I completed my first preceptorship experience where my preceptor student was successfully hired on as staff. The preceptorship experience highlighted my love for teaching and my subsequent interest in furthering my own education.  During the first five years of my career, I discovered a passion for teaching! It is through this passion that I have entered a new chapter in my life as a graduate student. I am working on my Master of Health Studies at Athabasca University. Hoping to spread awareness, decrease stigma, and provide resources for mental health!
