Hello everyone, and welcome to my first blog post! Bear with me as I adapt to this new (to me) form of expressing myself. I am in my first semester of the Master of Health Studies program at Athabasca University. I am studying to is to broaden my understanding of health on a larger scale. I am interested in learning about different healthcare systems and models of care. My future posts will be exploring healthcare in Canada, primarily in B.C ,as it is where I live and work. By studying the practices of other health care systems, I hope to identify gaps in care in B.C and learn how to better support marginalized and vulnerable populations.

I work in mental health as a Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN). Some of the people reading this will be unfamiliar with this role as unfortunately, RPNs are not recognized everywhere. I received my Bachelor's degree in psychiatric nursing five years ago, and have been mainly working on acute psychiatric units ever since.I will be sharing information & resources primarily focused in the field of mental health and substance use. Please see my practice standards on the link below!
